WHERE THE MAGIC HAPPENS

Nothing will prepare you for the spectacle that is the Great Migration. For the grazing animals, grass, which has withered away, might as well have run away. This movement of 2 million grazing animals through the great Serengeti ecosystem is the one of the world’s largest events.

THE LAND OF BIG CATS

Half of the lion population in all of Africa are found in Tanzania. They are joined by cheetahs, leopards, serval cats, caracal and more. If you are a big cat lover and you want see them in the wild, Tanzania is your destination.

THE BIG FIVE

There is nothing quite like the feeling of first setting eyes on one of the big five – buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino – in the Tanzania bush. Being just a few metres from these majestic creature is both terrifying and exhilarating, but don’t worry “animals are friends when you are in the car”.

MOUNTAIN PEAKS

Tanzania has a wide variety of mountain ranges and peaks. Trek up to the highest point on the African continent – Mt Kilimanjaro – or climb the second highest mountain in Tanzania which is often overlooked by trekkers – Mt Meru. The Usambara mountain range also offers memorable nature walks with spectacular views.

BIRD WATCHING

There are plenty of bird lovers who visit Tanzania only for the birds. There about 1100 winged beauties, from familiar species like ostrich, weaver birds, doves, korbustard, nubian vultures and fish eagles, to more exotic species like Egyptian goose or the spotted breasted ibis.

THE PEOPLE OF TANZANIA

The warmth, kindness and generosity of the local people is truly remarkable. Perhaps that is because of the Tanzanian history. Tanzania transformed from colonial rule to a democracy without war, which was not the case in many other African nations. Tanzania has over 120 tribes, all united by one language, Swahili, who come together to form a rich culture that is intriguing, unique, and ever changing.

BREATHTAKING LANDSCAPES

There is nothing quite like the feeling of first setting eyes on one of the Big Five in its natural habitat. But in Tanzania the scenery is so breathtaking it often takes centre stage. Situated on the equator, Tanzania boasts a wide variety of climates and ecosystems. Explore the vast golden grassland of the endless plain (Serengeti), the arctic landscapes near the peak of mount Kilimanjaro, the savannah woodland of Tarangire and almost everything in between.
