NGORONGORO CRATER
Ngorongoro Crater ranks right up there among Africa’s must-visit wildlife destinations:One of only three UNESCO World Heritage sites in Tanzania together with Selous Game Reserve and Serengeti.Crater is often called the Eight Wonder of the World.
TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
The Tarangire National Park has the highest density of elephants in North Tanzania and you can view these animals all year round in which the herds often can reach an impressive number of 300 animals.
LAKE MANYARA
In the Great Rift Valley south of Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, lies the Cinderella of Tanzania’s parks, Lake Manyara, the park known for its tree climbing lions and more than 400 bird species.
ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK
Arusha National Park is home to Mount Meru, a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4566 m, in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania. The park is small but varied, with spectacular landscapes in three distinct areas. In the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia River; the peak of Mount Meru lies on its rim.
LAKE NATRON
Lake Natron is a mineral-rich soda lake in northern Tanzania, on the Kenyan border. The lake is a breeding ground for hundreds of thousands of lesser flamingos, despite the highly alkaline state of the striking red waters. It sits below Ol Doinyo Lengai, a soaring active volcano in the Rift Valley.
MOUNT KILIMANJARO
Mount Kilimanjaro is the world’s highest freestanding mountain and also Africa’s highest peak, at 5985m. Climbing Kilimanjaro is justifiably considered a once in a lifetime experience. The lower slopes are dense with forest, it is surrounded by vast expanses of savannah, the peak is ice-capped, and the views from the top are breathtaking.
MOUNT MERU
Mount Meru is perfect for acclimatization prior to a Mount Kilimanjaro climb or for those seeking a lower altitude climb. The mountain is the third highest peak in Africa and is the second highest mountain in Tanzania at 4568m.
ZANZIBAR
Zanzibar is the main island in the Tanzanian archipelago of Zanzibar. Stone Town, part of Zanzibar City, is an old trade centre, with mosques and winding lanes. The Zanzibar beaches are the perfect place to relax after your safari or mountain trek.
PANGANI BEACH
Pangani beach stretches as far as you can see in each direction and because it faces due east you’ll see some beautiful sunrises. This is a laid-back, relaxing place and one of the few spots in Tanzania where you can enjoy the bush and the beach at the same time.
MAFIA ISLAND
With crystal clear waters, Mafia Island is a jewel of the Indian ocean. The island is home to pristine coral reefs, whale sharks and humpback whales.
USAMBARA MOUNTAINS
The Usambara Mountains have one of the highest concentrations of biodiversity on the continent. They contain about one-third of Tanzania’s flora and fauna species, including more than a dozen unique tree species.
