8 DAYS MIGRATION CROSSING SERENGETI

PRICE:  from $2 387 p/person sharing

This tour was designed to maximize both your landscapes and wildlife viewing by visiting the finest parks of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. On this itinerary you’ll visit Tarangire National Park, Central Serengeti National Park, Eastern Serengeti Ngorongoro Conservations Area and Northern Serengeti.

From July to mid-October the 40km-long column of migrating wildbeest arrive in Northern Serengeti from Southern Serengeti where they calved, on their dangerous journey to Maasai Mara. After crossing the crocodile infested Mara River half of the herds will enter Kenya while the remaining herds will stay in the plains and woodlands of Lamai Triangle and Kogatende area on the Tanzanian side.  Witnessing hundreds of wildebeest jumping into the water full of nile crocodiles is a must-see event.

The best time for this tour is July, August, September and October.

DAY 2:  ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Tarangire National Park. Despite the relative secrecy of Tarangire, during the dry season it is part of the migratory movement, and is second only to Ngorongoro Crater in concentration of wildlife. Tarangire is known as the “land of giants” as it has the largest population of African’s elephants and the long-living majestic Baobab trees.  You will arrive at Osupuko Tented Camp before dark.

Accommodation:  Osupuko Tented Camp
Meal Plan:  Bed & Breakfast
Drinks:  Drinking water (other drinks not included)

DAY 3:  TARANGIRE TO CENTRAL SERENGETI

Today after breakfast we head off to Serengeti  National Park.  After arriving in the afternoon, proceed with a game drive. Enjoy the incredible scenery, from the sea of waving grass to the endless plains dotted with rocky outcrops and termites mounds! You will arrive at Tanzania Bush Camp for dinner and your overnight stay.

Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp

DAY 4 – 5:   CENTRAL SERENGETI TO NORTHERN SERENGETI

After breakfast head off to Northern Serengeti.  After calving early in the new year (wildebeests drop up to 8 000 babies a day), huge numbers of wildebeests and zebras start the 800-km (497 mile) dangerous journey from the now dry and bare south eastern plains of Serengeti to the lush Northern Serengeti pasture. From June to mid October the 40km-long columns of animals have to cross the crocodile-infested Mara River on their journey to Kenya. Overnight at Kenzan Tented Camp.

Accommodation:  Kenzan Tented camp (2 nights)
Meals:  All meals included
Drinks:  Drinking water (other drinks not included)

DAY 6:  NORTHERN SERENGETI TO CENTRAL SERENGETI

After breakfast you will drive to Central Serengeti with game on route. Central Serengeti is famous for its spectacular landscape, the Seronera river flows all year around and attracts large numbers of wildlife. Drive through the kopjes; this is one of the best places to see predators with their crucial denning sites for lions and leopards. Overnight at Tanzania Bush Camp on full board basis.

Accommodation:  Tanzania Bush Camp
Meals:  All meals included
Drinks:  Drinking water (other drinks not included)

DAY 7:  CENTRAL SERENGETI TO NGORONGORO CRATER

Enjoy the comfortable atmosphere of the Ngorongoro highlands and the photogenic landscape of the Ngorongoro crater floor. Late afternoon drive to your lodge, Farm of Dreams located at Karatu.
