9 Days Serengeti Safari with Day Hike to Kilimanjaro

This adventure safari with a day tour to Kilimanjaro gives you the opportunity to combine two adventures in one great trip, experiencing both the incredible wildlife in Tanzania and the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.

The best time for this safari package is January, February, March, June, July, August, September & December.

DAY 1:  ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by one of our representatives. All of our guides are local Tanzanians and, with over 10 years of experience, they know this country and its secrets well. After a meet-and-greet you will be transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 2:  MOSHI – MT KILIMANJARO DAY HIKE

After an early breakfast drive to Moshi for the start of your day hike of Mt Kilimanjaro. Marangu or Machame are the coolest routes on Kilimanjaro. The elevation is very slow and steady, allowing for effortless hiking for most of the way. The hike will take you to Mandara Hut (1 970m – 2 770m) which will take you 6 – 7 hrs, returning to the lodge in the evening.

DAY 3:  MOSHI TO ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Arusha and on to Arusha National Park for a 2 hour walking safari followed by a game drive in the park. In the afternoon drive to the lodge for an evening at leisure.

DAY 4:   ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at your lodge, your driver guide will pick you up and head to Tarangire National Park. Despite the relative secrecy of Tarangire, during the dry season it is part of the migratory movement, and is second only to Ngorongoro Crater in concentration of wildlife. There are more than 500 species of birds in Tarangire National Park. Thousands of parched animals flock to the watering holes and thousands more make their long way to the permanent water of the Tarangire River. Overnight at Osupuko Tented lodge located outside Tarangire National Park.

DAY 5:  TARANGIRE TO LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park which is said to have been Hemingways favourite park in Africa. Lake Manyara National Park is a classic Tanzanian destination, from its groundwater forest and elusive tree-climbing lions, to hippos cooling off in the water with flamingos frolicking on the shoreline.  Its sights and sounds are unforgettable. Late afternoon drive to Karatu for overnight.

DAY 6 – 7:  KARATU TO CENTRAL SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Central Serengeti, the home of the great migration and the big cats that follow them.  Enjoy the sea of waving grass, the rocky outcrops, and the endless plains – Serengeti has it all. Overnight at Serengeti Osupuko on full board basis for 2 nights.

DAY 8:  SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO NGORONGORO HIGHLAND

After breakfast head off to Ngorongoro and upon arrival descend to the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater was formed from a collapsed volcano, It is now a self-sustaining ecosystem with the densest predator population in Africa.  You may be able to spot the Big 5 in a single afternoon!

DAY 9:  KARATU TO KILIMANJARO AIRPORT

After breakfast depending on your international flight, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro international airport for your flight back home.
