12 days Safari around Mount Kilimanjaro off the beaten track

On this journey you will visit a variety of national parks and wildlife conservation areas.  The Enduimet Wildlife Management area is an amazing place for both game drives and guided walks at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The Mkomazi National Park features Lake Natron, the most remote salt lake in Tanzania,  known for the expansive flamingo breeding grounds.  You will also visit North Eastern Serengeti, Central Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park, and Arusha National Park.

Best time for this tour is December to end of February, and June to October.

DAY 1: KILIMANJARO TO ARUSHA

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by one of our representatives. All of our guides are local Tanzanians and, with over 10 years of experience, they know this country and its secrets well. After a meet-and-greet you will be transferred to your hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 2:  ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Arusha National Park for a guided walk with an armed ranger and later you can enjoy a relaxing game drive. With only 137 square km you are sure to see a variety of animals than the larger national parks. Visit the Great and Small Momella Lakes, and the forests that surround the Ngurdoto crater. Look out for big animals like giraffes, buffaloes, and some baboon family groups. Return to your lodge in the evening for your overnight stay.

DAY 3:  ARUSHA TO ENDUIMET WILDLIFE RESERVE

After breakfast drive to Enduimet Wildlife Reserve (southern Amboseli) for a game drive and ranger guided walk. Its strategic location makes it an amazing place for game drives and walking while enjoying photogenic views of the highest free standing mountain in the world, Mt Kilimanjaro. Arrive at the lodge before nightfall.

DAY 4:  ENDUIMET WILDLIFE RESERVE TO MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast head off to Mkomazi National Park, via the Kilimanjaro North scenic route.  Upon your arrival you will proceed with a game drive. Drive to your camp before dark for your overnight stay.

DAY 5:  MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK

Today, your game drive starts early in the morning in this less-visited park. Enjoy the sunrise and sunse,t together with the magnificent mountain views found in this park. Visit the rhinoceros and wild dog projects situated in the park. Return to your camp in the afternoon for your overnight stay.

DAY 6:  MKOMAZI NATIONAL PARK TO ARUSHA

After breakfast drive back to Arusha via Moshi  (stop for a barbeque if possible) and proceed to Arusha.

DAY 7:  ARUSHA TO LAKE MANYARA

After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara National Park for your game drive. Enjoy driving through a fairytale forest where among the entertainers are baboons, blue monkeys, elephants and plenty of bird species. Later on, drive to your hotel for your overnight stay.

DAY 8:  MANYARA TO LAKE NATRON

Today after breakfast at your lodge, head off to Lake Natron. Arrive in the afternoon and visit the Engare Sero Gorge and waterfalls, followed by a guided walk led by the Maasai tribesman to the lake shore for some bird watching. Later, drive back to your lodge for your overnight stay.

DAY 9-10:  LAKE NATRON TO SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast drive to Serengeti National park via Klens Gate on the eastern side of the Serengeti. Drive through the escarpment that forms the eastern branch of the rift valley. Enjoy the landscapes of the Waso and  Ololosokwan, and arrive in Serengeti at midday for your game drive. Serengeti is known for its largest population of big cats and the home of the Great Wildbeest Migration. Arrive at your camp before dark.

DAY 11:   SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK TO KARATU

After breakfast head off to Ngorongoro and descend to the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater was formed from a collapsed volcano.  Today it is a self-sustaining ecosystem with the densest predator population in Africa.  You may be able to spot the Big 5 in a single afternoon! The scenery at the crater floor is astonishing. Later, ascend to your hotel in Karatu for your overnight stay.

DAY 12:  KARATU TO KILIMANJARO AIRPORT

Today after breakfast you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro airport for your international flight back home. This is the end of your tour with us.  Asante sana and Karibu tena!
